Nungon People of Uruwa

The subject of this book is a culture of a Nungon ethnic group, who live in the mountainous part of Huon peninsula in Papua-New Guinea. The authors of the book conveyed the opinions of the pupils of the local elementary school on issues as culture, nature, environment conservation and prospects for the future. The pupils presented their ideas via drawings, which they accompanied by comments. The book consists of a rich visual material obtained during the field research among Nungon people. It serves as an introduction into their culture, and also presents their opinions on diverse topics. The book addresses anthropologists, etnologists and others interested in cultures of Papua New Guinea. Předmětem knihy je kultura etnické skupiny Nungon, která obývá horské oblasti poloostrova Huon na Papui-Nové Guineji. V knize autoři unikátním způsobem zprostředkovali názory žáků místní základní školy na kulturu, přírodu, ochranu biodiverzity a budoucnost jejich vesnice. Žáci školy se k uvedeným tématům vyjádřili prostřednictvím kreseb a komentářů k nim. Kniha obsahuje bohatý obrazový materiál, který autoři získali během terénních výzkumů u Nungonů, jejichž kulturu a názory v knize představují. Kniha je určena nejen antropologům, etnologům a kulturologům, ale všem zájemcům o kultury Papuy-Nové Guineje.
