This publication presents the collection of ancient glass in the Department of Prehistory and Classical Antiquity of the National Museum. The collection contains more than 200 intact vessels which encompass a wide chronological framework from the 5th century BC until the end of antiquity. A great variety of decoration techniques and styles which were used in antiquity are represented in the collection and it comprises vessels from various places within the Mediterranean as well as outside of it. The core of the collection is made up of blown glass. Besides typological classification and illustrated documentation, the attention was also paid to the chemical composition of glass. In some cases, there is also a brief note about particular production techniques. Language: ENG
